11.2.3.2.2.2.3 says...whichever is greater, 5 heads would be greater.

I think you have to meet all the requirements of 11.2.3.3 If you are applying 
the room design method.

11.2.3.2.2.2.3 says you must calculate 5 E.C. sprinklers or the minimum design 
area that corresponds to the hazard in Figure 11.2.3.1.1
