I'm really liking the clarity provided by 23.4.4.1.1.4 and .5 in the 2013
edition of NFPA 13
(its 23.4.4.2.4 for those using the 2016 ed)

But I not sure where exactly they're telling me to add the extra flow. The
code says it shall be added at the point of connection of the branch line
to the cross main furthest from the source...

I'm assuming that would be the branch line connection to the cross main
that furthest from the source, but still inside the remote area, correct?

So my calc is for an OH1 kitchen in an otherwise light hazard building, but
the kitchen is in the middle of the pipe run so I have branch line to cross
main connections downstream of my remote area.

A literal reading of this section would have me putting this tie-in point
maybe 100 feet past where my remote area ends, but that doesn't seem
logical to me.

What do you think?
