With a few assumptionsClassroom =   light hazardsmooth flat ceiling with
soffits 15' x 15' spacing with regular spacing QR heads 5.6 k or 8.1k
or (choose the best for situation) EXT Cov head
if 16'x16' spacing 26 gpm for an 8.1kif   18'x 18'         33 gpm  for
11.2k
Sounds like regular spacing 5.6k head maybe the choice.

Here is another way to approach this. You say you can protect the room with 7
standard coverage sprinklers and then calc a 923 sq.ft. area which would
probably result in smaller pipe size than using E.C. heads. I have found that
sometimes going this route is more efficient from a pipe size standpoint. It
may not always be about saving heads.
Either way, with EC, you always calc a minimum of 5.

I HAVE A 750 SQFT CLASS ROOM. DUE TO THE CONFIGUARTION OF THE LIGHTS AND A FEW
BUMP OUTS IN THE WALLS. I NEED TO USE  FIVE   18x18 EC SPRINKLERS. IF I READ
THE CODE CORRECTLY. I NEED TO CALCULATE 5 TIMES 324 SQFT. WHICH IS 1620 SQFT.
WONDERING IF I AM READING THIS RIGHT? I DON'T SEE THE ADVANTAGE WHEN I CAN USE
7 STANDARD Q.R. SPRINKLERS TO COVER THE SAME ROOM. 11' CEILINGS MY DESIGN AREA
WOULD ONLY BE 923 SQFT. AM I MISSING SOMETHING? THANKS
