Your question is if it is 49". It is an obstruction, greater than 48" located roughly 36" entirely below the sprinkler.
My question is, where is the exclusion below allowed? Hypothetically since we are on that realm... Since he mentioned the lights are greater than 48" in the hypothetical question, the structural members only exclusion would not apply. I can say I have never run into suspended lights that creates the obstruction with standard spray sprinklers. I have had the issue with lights and ESFR sprinklers. In those cases we were able to get the lights changed to less than 24" in width so we only had to maintain a 12" horizontal distance. Best of luck in your particular situation. The light is 48" so technically we do not have to sprinkler under it (code requires sprinkler under obstruction more than 4 feet wide), but I am wondering what to be done if this was 49 inches. This light is located more than 4 feet from ceiling slab and putting sprinkler under it is not an option architecturally. Wondering if anyone came across this scenario. P.s. Light is a solid round shape with 48" diameter Ramez _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> http://lists.firesprinkler.org/listinfo.cgi/sprinklerforum-firesprinkler.org _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> http://lists.firesprinkler.org/listinfo.cgi/sprinklerforum-firesprinkler.org
