For what it’s worth, this is a link to a document that the Colorado Fire
Marshals put together regarding marijuana facilities and the fire code. It goes
through fire code requirements and how they play given a marijuana facility. I
offer it to help offer a more broader view of MJ facilities to the sprinkler
industry.

One thing that I realized as a result of this thread, is more insight/info
should be considered for the document regarding fire sprinkler systems and
their design. So this thread has helped me in that regard.

Regarding terminology, the document has a list of defined terms. Course these
may change from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Subject: Re: Grow Facilities

the Title "Grow Facilities" should be changed?

What is the building be used for?

1. Is it Green House? just for growing

2. Extracting Oil from plants? with chemicals?
What Chemicals are being used stored...........

3. Storage ? Bales, processed oil, boxed, in cardboard plastic, Racks,
      general storage?

This is just a starting point questions. Arch/Engineers, AHJ's are going to
need to provide details.

This is obviously outside of our scope and I am punting this back up the chain.
But, has anyone that is sprinklering these MJ facilties run into this:
"Provide a letter from a state licensed PE or Consulting Firm approved by the
City of XXXXXXX, that supports the fire sprinkler design assumptions. The
letter shall be signed (wet) and address the design assumptions that includes
the use of CO2 enrichment, flammable liquids/gasses, and hazardous waste and
the impact that includes the overall Heat Release Rate (HRR) and the ability of
the fire sprinkler system to suppress a fire. Reference 2016 state fire code
section xxx.x.x"
I used xxx to block out any reference to the particular project.
Any ideas on this stuff. We were hired to just design the system per OH2.
This is going to get interesting.
