Is this a fire wall that splits one structure? I assume when you say ‘top of
the wall’ there is a roof/ceiling up there?

Have you thought about an automatic fire door? I see those a lot in warehouses.

Subject: Sprinklers protecting openings

I may have referenced this before, but now this is turning into a job, so i
need to get serious. Two 8x8 openings in a 18 ft high wall separating 2
buildings. FM and insurance company want water curtain on each side of the
wall. The top of the wall is 10 ft above the openings. My thought was to run a
"shelf" 18" above the top if the opening and put sprinklers spaced at 6'-0"
below it. My question is how far out the shelf should project from the wall? I
was thinking 2-3 ft but not sure if there is an guidance or experience with
this. Thoughts?
