The spools on which the fiber is wound are actually more of a hazard (and not really much of one) than the fiber itself. The finished product shouldn’t be sensitive to water so the only real reason for a preaction would be due to an owner having problems with a “leaking” sprinkler system ruining packaging. We have had one CF project where the finished product was required to be housed for a period of days in a controlled environment before its finally testing and QC certification prior to shipment. If product had gotten wet due to a faulty sprinkler system, the test results for the exposed product may no longer be in spec. But on other CF projects there has never been any concern by the owner regarding the type of sprinkler system in any part of the process from start to storage. Craig L.
