There are some of these ducts that have internal struts/ribs that hold the duct open even when air is off, others do not have the internal support and will go limp if HVAC is shut down.
So, if there were a sprinkler below the duct and fire broke out fusing that sprinkler, and if the HVAC system is interlocked to shut down on sprinkler flow, the HVAC system shuts down, duct collapses and sprinkler is rendered inoperable. You will need to verify the type of duct that is being provided and HVAC interlocks which may require another conversation with the insurer. Craig L.
