Somewhat off. But I was impressed with restraining straps post-Nisqually earthquake. I saw hanger failures where newer standards would have required straps. I didn’t see any straps that failed to do their job.
Same with end of line vertical restraint. I assume everyone knows municipal inspectors are insured. And in WA State they, and presumably the city, are responsible for meeting safety (WISHA). Unlike subcontractors, if I’m doing something wrong they can fine the city, not the GC. They recognize the GC has limited control over inspectors. I guess if scaffolding is wrong it’s wrong, and they’re still subject to action. It’s moot. Sites are logarithmically better than they used to be. Best.
