Typically, propane tanks are stored in steel mesh cages not enclosed boxes.
Same for the oxygen bottles. If these are in a flammable storage cabinet, then
that’s another issue.

NFPA 55, 6.10 provides design criteria guidance based on the type of gas.

Overhead sprinklers are standard fare, nothing special is typically needed for
gases in open mesh cages. You’re not going extinguish a gas fire, just provide
cooling and hopefully control spread while it burns out.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Misc. Gas Storage

So … working on an Medical Equipment Storage Facility. I’ve got rack storage of
the medical equipment covered. But I also see a “propane fire safe” in the
corner of the warehouse. As well as a “medical oxygen cage”.

Owner says the following will be in the O2 cage: (40) ‘E’ Bottles and (20) ‘M’
bottles.

Propane Safe contains two tanks for forklift.

(1) – Do I have to be concerned about the propane in the “propane safe”?
(2) – What standard do I protect the Oxygen to? (NFPA 99 doesn’t seem to fit
this application)
