An aquifer is not considered a raw water source so wouldn't a well be similar? Is it considered potable?
NFPA 13 says that water sources that are closed or protected from direct contact with the environment should not be considered raw. 2019 A.3.3.174 The biggest challenges with wells is the lack of consistency of the water supply and the unknown available volume. For something that required an ESFR system, I'd be very wary of a well as my primary water supply. Use the wells to fill a tank so you can be assured of having water when you need it.
