All it says in 13R is that if the line is over 4” apply NFPA 24, if under4” NFPA 24 is not necessary. 2019 NFPA 13R, A.5.3.
8.2.1 Pipe Sizing. Piping shall be sized using hydraulic calculation procedures in accordance with NFPA 13. Couldn’t find anything else. Calcs dictate pipe sizes.
