It doesn't. NFPA 13 talks about obstructions over 48" in width but there are
also other factors that come into play when dealing with obstructions.

Chapter 8 deals with horizontal and vertical obstruction rules and helps you
determine when and where additional sprinklers are required. There are
numerous conditions where obstruction rules can come into play.

The 36" diameter thing is from FM Global.

Hi,
Where does it say in NFPA 13 or another code, that you must provide sprinklers
under obstructions that are 3' in diameter?

Best,
Timothy M. Easter
