Typically we would not choose a diesel pump if our pump room were in a basement or any room where we could not get the exhaust out of the room with the shortest possible length of pipe.
Discharging exhaust into a parking basement would need to be approved by a building code official since this could pose a hazard to people who might be in the parking area if the pump were running. You also need to speak to the pump manufacturer about the length of the exhaust because excess length affects pump performance. The ventilation system may not be suitable for moving diesel exhaust. The space of basement outside the pump room is for parking. Read 11.5 of NFPA 20:2019 and I design to select the exhaust discharge location just outside the pump room, and inside the parking basement. The basement have its dedicated auto operated ventilation system. Is my design not wrong to NFPA? Thanks.
