Good morning,
I am working on a Flat Roof, wood frame, single story building.
The membrane roof is insulated above the structure.
5/8" Plywood Roof Deck attached directly to the framing.
Concealed Space is 1'-10" high down to 1'-6" minimum, 11,000 SF
5/8" Gypsum board attached directly to bottom of roof trusses.
There is a Noncombustible Concealed Space almost 2'-0" deep where Sprinkler
System piping will be installed with a Finished Ceiling, 5/8" Gyp. Board
suspended on Metal Grid below.
Reference NFPA 13, 2022 ed. 9.2.1.15. 9.2.1.15 describes the scenario above
and states that this space below the roof deck shall not require sprinkler
protection.
Would I be correct in not applying sprinklers to this space?
