Hi all,
I've run into a situation where we have a sidewall sprinkler in a restroom (57
ft2). A small cabinet (for linens) was put up on the same wall about 4" below
our head.
I am of the opinion that the cabinet creates an obstruction and either the
sprinkler needs to move or the cabinet.

My field foreman makes a pretty strong argument that 6.4.6.3.2 allows the
sprinkler to be installed without consideration to obstructions. Technically, a
restroom is considered a compartment and as mentioned earlier, it is smaller
than 400 ft2.
Do you believe NFPA's intent for paragraph 6.4.6.3.2 was to also include
bathrooms? I would say no.
