Back in the ‘80’s, when VCR’s were new, I supervised the installation of the
fire sprinkler systems at the EPCOT Center Living Seas Pavilion, a
5.5-million-gallon fish tank in Orlando, Florida. We had many areas where
saltwater would cause sprinkler corrosion, and we installed stainless steel
sprinklers (Central brand at the time), but only pendent and upright sprinklers
were available in that material. Back then, there were lead-coated
corrosion-resistant sprinklers on the market, but that’s no longer available
anywhere.

I’d suggest checking with manufacturers, but I doubt you'll be able to find one
concealed in stainless steel. Most glass bulb sprinklers are available with
Teflon coatings, but I doubt the exposed Belville seal would be protected. I
suppose you could ask if a wax-coated concealed sprinkler would be available –
the problem is no one would be able to see corrosion problems behind the cover
plate when doing visual inspections of the sprinklers in the annual inspections.

Good luck!

Subject: [Sprinklerforum] Corrosion resistant concealed sprinklers

My day for questions. I am working on a project with a therapy pool that will
require corrosion resistant sprinklers above. The Architect is insisting on
concealed sprinklers. To date, I have not found anything in manufacturer’s
literature that matches. Would a clean room sprinkler (concealed sprinklers
with gasket) provide corrosion resistance?
