I'm running spyder under windows (64bit), and use the ipython interpreter (start a new ipython kernel option) by default.
When displaying figures (imshow, plot, etc.) the default behavior is to show then inline, it's useful in most cases as it allows to see history, but doesn't allow to scale and zoom images to see details which is even more convenient in my case.
