Adding a separate "debug to breakpoint" command would be the way to go. And we would certainly welcome the contributions. Feel free to either submit a patch file on the issue tracker [1], or if you prefer to work a series of commits create a server-side clone [2] and a subsequent review request on the issue tracker so we can pull the changes.
