Hi,

On my system the tooltips stay live until you either close the brackets or
go to a new line. Can you tell a bit more about your setup? Like which
operating system do you use, versions (python, spyder, pyflakes, rope).

You also be able to view the documentation in the object inspector. If that
is not active, you can find it here:
view > windows and toolbars > Object inspector
