Hello, I checked the performance by running KDE Desktop remotely and ipython qtconsole. - KDE Desktop (issued "startkde" at the PuTTY's command line) performance was good -- Sorry if this sounds a bit subjective. I have a 1.0 Gb/s network and the GUI performance appeared the same when I remote desktop to another MS-Windows environment from my Windows 7 light client. - ipython qtconsole ran without any slowness on the GUI. Actually, the GUI performance was great. I could not feel any delay while typing code as it happens when I am running Spyder. Response time while activating the drop down menu was almost instant too. - I also rechecked the GUI performance of other applications: - R Studio performance is fair. There was some minor, but noticeable delay while typing code or issuing commands. - Matlab GUI performace was the best of the lot. At this stage, I am wondering what other users report for their Linux Mint/Ubuntu Spyder GUI performance while running it remotely from a Windows light client. Please let me know what is your experience.
