If you are on Linux, you need to remove /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/spyder /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/spyderlib /usr/local/bin/spyder I found these instead, probably because I asked for Python 3 before installing: /usr/local/lib/python3.2/dist-packages/spyderlib /usr/local/lib/python3.2/dist-packages/spyderplugins /usr/local/bin/spyder /usr/local/bin/spyder3
Remove as Carlos suggested.
As well as: /usr/local/lib/python3.2/dist-packages/spyder-2.3.0beta3.egg-info /usr/local/lib/python3.2/dist-packages/spyder-2.3.0dev.egg-info /usr/local/bin/spyder_win_post_install.py (*) /usr/local/share/applications/spyder3.desktop /usr/local/share/pixmaps/spyder3.png
I would remove these also, just to get back to a clean state.
(*) I'm not sure it's worth it installing this file on a Linux system.
This pointed me to /usr/local/lib/python3.2/dist-packages/spyderlib and /usr/local/bin/spyder. Locate find other bits, that I've written here for reference.
