Where are you trying to change the version and how?
It's used to report application errors
and to inspect Spyder internals with
the following commands:
spy.app, spy.window, dir(spy)

ipython starts up with python 2.7. I checked within the contents of the
spyder app and it only has python2.7 in
/Applications/Spyder.app/Contents/Resources/lib/
Any help would be great in figuring this out.
Preferences --> Console --> Advanced Settings --> Select the Python
interpreter...
