This looks really strange, and might really be due to something left over from other packages.
Since you say that all you have left over is a Python3 install, it seems likely to be some configuration file that uses some feature that isn't supported anymore. Check in your user directory if there are any python-related dot-folders and delete them (don't forget to backup first).
