Hi,
The bug you mentioned about the working directory is fixed and will be
released in Spyder 2.3.5. It only happened in Python 3, by the way.

Simplest I could find is to restart the IPython console, browse to the
directory in the regular console, or copy the path from the working
directory menu and then type %cd <paste>, none of which are as simple
as a button or menu item.
