Hi, I think I found out parts of the problem, but I still consider it to be 
a *bug*.

Right now it appears, as if the shortcuts for code navigation back & forth 
(Ctrl+Alt + left/right) only work if the source Toolbar is present.
However this is really counter intuitive.

It is also not really clear when the cursor positions are really remembered 
by spyder and when not (clicking with the mouse is only sometimes 
remembered, moving the cursor with the keyboard most likely ignored).
Right now it looks as if the experience is worse when a new Winpython 
installation is used (doesn't remember any cursor positions at all in the 
beginning), and it gets better after some work has been done.
Probably there is some initialization error within the code..
I've checked this behavior on multiple WinPython / Spyder versions on 
various Windows machines, always with similar (strange) behaviors.
