Just being able to select different Python kernels would be great. It would
be very useful to be able to run code/tests against different versions of
our library (we've got Python kernels installed for multiple versions) and
when we come to port to Python 3 it would be very useful to be able to
compare results from both versions in the same spyder session.

Of course being able to open an R or Julia kernel and code alongside Python
would be great but I imagine that would be a large job if it's even
feasible.

In terms of interface I'm thinking a multi-select box in the preferences to
choose which kernels are available in Consoles menu with either a default
kernel or remember my last kernel behaviour.

Happy to take a crack if it's considered a good idea - I just wanted to
make sure nothing was already being worked on in a similar vein.

Cheers,
Dave
