I am getting this error too. Here's the details:

Running Python 2.7.10 - 32-bit on Windows 7 Professional

I manually installed spyder by first installing the dependencies, as per 
the install webpage. No issues with installing those.

I then installed Spyder and clicked on the icon. It crashed as shown in the 
previous poster's description. Here's the error from the crash log:

I have successfully loaded Spyder before, but now that I'm using 32-bit, it 
seems to be an issue.
