That option does prevent wrapping output text in the Python console (at least for me), but not the IPython console. You may want to open an issue at https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues asking for a similar option for the IPython console, especially since the Python console is slated for removal because it is rather buggy. It would help us if you could explain why you want this feature.
