Frome the File menu, choose New File. I usually follow that with a Save As, choosing a name.py that matches the function of the code.

Each time you code a new function, use a different descriptive filename.py, this allows you to have as many programs as you need.

Additionally a structured set of folders can be used to save files associated with a particular project or files that need to be kept together.
