Managed to solve this on a Windows 10 Version 1909 PC and a Windows 8.1 VM by using the command:
conda update --all For Windows 10 Version 1909 I used the Anaconda Powershell prompt (Windows 10) but for Windows 8.1 I used the Anaconda Prompt (Windows 8.1) CMD as the same command didn't work in the Windows 8.1 PowerShell Prompt. [image: 1.PNG] For some reason it doesn't recognise the command but lets one proceed by pressing y. In any case it updates spyder to version 4.0.1 including all dependencies.
