Hey,
Thanks for your interest in contributing to Spyder! About your questions:
* Sure, it's possible to use venv for development. Just follow the
instructions for virtualenvs and pip. The downsides of using it is that
you need to know very well most (if not all) Spyder dependencies, in
case problems arise due to conflicting packages.
* Any editor is fine for development, including Spyder itself.
Cheers,
Carlos

Hello Spyder team,
I would like to contribute to Spyder. I read the 'Contributing' guide
on Github but there are still some questions open.
* Is it possible to use Python 3's `venv` for development on Linux?
o And what are the downsides of not using Anaconda?
* Which Editor or IDE should on use for development?
/The files related to Spyder projects aren't ignored by the
`.gitignore` file in Spyder's repository, files related to virtual
environments aren't either./
Thank you!
Kind regards,
yfprojects
