I updated to Spyder 5. It went well, once I found a random internet post suggesting I use the conda-forge channel. I want to thank the developers for maintaining the python path from my previous release (4.2.something).
The UI changes seem straightforward. My main question is this: What's the deal with the orange Xs? What are they supposed to be telling me? Why is there an X in front of the files in the file view? Why is an "X" the icon to bring up the operating system file browser? (What's wrong with a button with the word "browse" on it?) Why a big-ass X in the editor breakpoint column? The Xs are not bad. Yet, you went to a lot of trouble to minimize the tool icons (too minimal for this casual user); why the apparently superfluous Xs? Their purpose might seem obvious in the Spyder development bubble, but I'm perplexed. Please enlighten me. -Mark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "spyder" group.
