Hello,

First of all, I want to clarify that I am a novice ( and that my English is
not very good), hence my questions ;-)

I am trying to install Spyder on Debian for multi-user use. I am trying to
do this installation automatically when the machine starts (before logging
in, rc.local).

For this I use the standalone installers for Linux installation script.

My problem is in the execution of post_install.sh, indeed, I get the error:

unable to init server: could not connect: connection refused
(gtk-launch:15139):
Gtk-WARNING: cannot open display
ERROR: executing post_install.sh failed

Spyder is still installed but when I want to launch it with a user account
of the PC, it does not work well (very slow launch, several minutes or no
launch at all).

On the other hand, if I do the installation (by launching the installation
script) from my administrator account connected to the graphical interface,
everything goes well and other users can use Spyder without problem.

I think I understood that the problem comes from an installation problem
outside the graphical interface, but does anyone have an idea of how to
get around the problem and allow the installation of Spyder when starting
the PC?

Thank you for your help.

Have a nice day.
