Okay, I wiped out my /var/lib/pgsql/data folder, ran initdb again, and verified that I can sign on as the postgres user and create a database and user for sql-ledger.
However, I still get the IDENT authentication error. This is leaving host & port blank, and using the same username and database name "sqlledger", with the correct password. Any attempt to change /var/lib/pgsql/data/pg_hba.conf results in the connection refused. For example, I changed local all ident sameuser to local all trust and then I get a message saying there's no entry in pg_hba.conf for host, database and user. Any ideas?
