Better to use postfix instead of sendmail... it's easier and considered more secure, and is compatible with sendmail. Chances are decent that your distribution includes it. More info is at http://www.postfix.org/.
However I don't bother with that. I use KDE3 which includes "Email as PDF attachment" as a printing option from Konqueror.
