I suggest you try and see if the GIFI fields can be used to process a
report in the style your tax friends want to see it. Should not be too
hard and no perl hacking required..

Subject: [SL] Australia's BAS

I'm new here. I have been reading through the archives, but
there _IS_ a lot
too read.

It's Business Activity Statement time here in Australia and I
have about zero
time to

a) Get some accounting software in place
b) Get my data into it
c) Produce a report for our Tax Fiend to keep him happy
d) Get my GST rebates.

I have sql-ledget installed and running on ClarkConnect 0.91
(basically Red
Hat Linux 7.2), can enter data and print stuff out.

Fortunately, I don't have a _lot_ of transactions to enter.

What I really want is to be sure I can produce a BAS sometime
soon. Electronic
lodgement would be a delight, but I can use paper if I must.

Does anyone have any handy hits to help me along?

btw I can do some custom hackery if I must, I can write a bit
of Perl. I don't
think the BAS itself will be too dificult if SL collects all
the information
I need. And, of course, if I can figure just how to produce a BAS.
