I have fixed the problem. I cleared the browser cache and logged back in to SL 
and everything was fine and has stayed that way. I think it must be a bug in 
Konqueror. Certainly caused me some head scratching trying to figure out the 
strange behaviour. Pity I didn't think of the easy answer first.
