Links is a nice console web browser that supports both frames 
and JavaScript.

Regardless, I would vote for using such features.  They have
a great deal to offer for applications like SQL-Ledger.
Consider, for example, how JavaScript can facilitate
account reconciliation.  Just check things off and get your
reconciled balance on-the-fly, without repeated interactions
with the server.
