Thanks for all the replies, i shall try ubuntu 10.04 and see if that sorts it.

I am running everything on a vsphere cluster so it's not that much hassle to
setup a new machine and trash it if it doesn't help!

Cheers

There are reports that the dreader Perl error is gone in Ubuntu 10.
I suggest checking that out before doing a full reinstall on another OS.
He problem is not the OS as i see it..

Hi Gareth,

FYI - on the 7th of May Armaghan posted the following message here:

-------------

I just installed latest Ubuntu (10.04 LTS), downloaded and configured
sql-ledger and it seems that the dreaded error (Attempt to copy freed
scalar) due to Perl bug is not there.

I was able to print PDF invoices without any issue. This is a good
news for all sql-ledger users.

perl -v gives me:
This is perl, v5.10.1 (*) built for i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi

Sebastian

Thats a bummer, i shall have to get my head around CentOS i guess.

Is there a recommended version of CentOS to be used, presumably the latest
(5.4?)

Also is there a guide anywhere to installing 123Ledger on CentOS, or is fairly
similar to Ubunut (apt-get and git??)

I assume that Squid and LDAP Auth also work ok on CentOS??

Thanks again for the support, apologies for the barrage of questions!!

Hello again Gareth,

I am afraid the "Attempt to free unreferenced scalar" problem relates to a
problem with perl 5.10. It has been discussed here before.

To solve it you will need to install your SQL-Ledger on for example CentOS,
which doesn't use Perl 5.10.

Sebastian

PO is edited and then we try to email it again.

I have also noticed that in Safari instead of the oe.pl<http://oe.pl/> download
i get an error message that says.

Does this help at all, i am guessing this is some kind of perl related oddness,
we are running version v5.10.0

Hello Gareth,

have you installed the custom table and column changes required by ledger123?

psql -U postgres yourdataset < sql/Pg-custom_tables.sql

See http://www.ledger123.com/docs/doku.php?id=enhanced_sql-ledger for more info.

Hello,

This is my fist time posting here and i am relatively new to SQL-Ledger so
please be gentle.

We have 123Ledger installed from git currently setup on an Ubuntu 9.10 server
in a headless setup alongside squid.

We also have latex installed and configured along with sendmail and all the
usual suspects.

Now the system has been working fine for the last few weeks, we can print,
download and email items fine usually.

However we have a few purchase orders (which is all we are really using the
system for) that when we try and email them as a pdf from 123Ledger instead of
the usual being plonked back to the PO page we are being prompted to download a
file called oe.pl<http://oe.pl/>.

I have tried a few different browsers and am seeing the same issue on all
including IE7, Opera, Safari and Chrome all on a mac.

I'm a bit confused as to why this is an issue for only some PO's and not
others, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers

Gareth Jeanne
