I believe you can just enter the hours in the "Chargeable" field without recording the actual times. Is that what you mean? I'm not sure that's what you mean. We use time cards to track the number of hours spend on projects but we don't use it for payroll.
I'm working with 2.8.30 and you can enter clocked hours (start/finish) and have the chargable time calculated, or you can enter that directly. In 2.8.30 the time card view has start/end times in boxes for hour/minute/seconds and the following line reads "clocked." I assume that refers to the two time specifications in the line above it. I suppose you can suck data from a time clock, but that's a different question of data format and integration.
