Lenny and Luke have weighed in with suggestions, but I'm still not able to generate a service invoice for those clients who want a detailed invoice of time and expenses. I'll describe what I do and what I see and ask you to suggest changes.
Goal: to have an invoice that lists the date, note, and quantity (i.e., amount of time) for each time card entry and adds the client name/address, project number and name, and total dollar amount to the invoice. From the Projects -> Reports menu I select Time Cards and specify date, project number, name, service code, notes, and quantity. This produces desired information on the display. Next, I select Projects -> Generate -> Sales Orders. Specifying the project number and 'Details', I click the 'Continue' button. This produces a page headed 'Generate Sales Orders' with headers but no content. When I then select Order Entry I usually find nothing under Sales Order or Reports -> Sales Order. If I do get this step correct, then the displayed sales order has the correct number of items, but only the service code and description and not the notes. It is at the this step that I either get stuck or the results I don't want. What am I missing?
