I have set up CF SErver to talk to remote databases many times. In fact,
that is normally how I develop a website to hit a production database. I
have never had a problem just typing in the name of the server, in fact, my
desktop has exactly that configuration. If you have a username and
password, I don't think you need to use a trusted connection.

If you are entering the NT name of the server, make sure that the CF box can
"see" the remote server. Open a command prompt and type "ping <servername>"
to check. If it comes back, great, if not, add an entry to your LMHOSTS
file and ensure that Enable LMHOSTS lookup is checked in your TCP/IP setup.

Subject: ODBC Source for Seperate SQL Server

Just wondering if anybody has set up an ODBC source for SQL in the Cold
Fusion Administrator?
The problem is that the database is on another server and I can not seem to
get the ODBC to verify. I think I may be putting the wrong info in the
server field of Edit ODBC Data Source [Microsoft SQL Server Driver] screen.
In this field I have (PDCDATA1) which is the name of the sever the sql
server is on... is this right or do I need IP address here. Or, can my
problems exist elsewhere... password and username look good and trusted is
on..??? Any help in this manner would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
