I turned the field into a float and then tried to enter the number
2.63e11
This is the error that I got back....  Not sure what I am doing wrong...

ODBC Error Code = 22003 (Numeric value out of range)
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Arithmetic overflow error 
converting float to data type numeric.
SQL = "UPDATE dbo.Mech SET IxxEPV = 2.63e11 Where MechID = 12
