You're correct, it is 8k for all versions of SQL Server. I don't know
where I got 2k from. Blech.

If you're running on Microsoft SQL Server, you can total the size for
each
column and round up to the next 2k page boundary. That will give you
the
size of one record. I don't know what the boundaries are for other
DBMSs.
