nvarchar is for unicode, or internal characters. Varchar is the normal ascii
character set. Unless you need unicode then varchar is the better choice as
it is easier to process and takes less space in the DB. NVarchar is about
double in size what varchar allocates.

for the life of me can't recall the major differences between nvarchar and
varchar and which is the best to use.
