Thanks Mike. One more question.
How do I reference a linked server that is only an IP address? The only way 
that I can link to this other server is by using the IP address. 
So instead of transserver.snowline.street.RecordID I use 
xx.xxx.xx.xxx.snowline.street.RecordID . I tried using a bracket but I get an 
error. Parens and leaving it open results in an error after xx.xxx
