Small off-topic point of order .... 

The big chilly continent south of Australia - the driest continent on earth
- is called Antarctica not Antartica.


You can have the database files on another drive than your server files
You move the .mdf and .ldf files to the any other folder, and use attach to
add them back to your server.

I'm not sure but I do believe you could probably even have them on a
different machine on the network couldn't you?

So, looks like you have to move the entire database to a separate drive, not
just the database file. In other words, you could have sql server installed
on c drive but the data and log files can be on d drive. To do this, you
have to move that particular database to the d drive. Am I right?
