Third attempt to get some help from the list dedicated to SQL - absolutely no response at all to the last two attempts ... hopefully this'll get a response ....
My client is building a PC to use as a machine for a single purpose - it's going to connect to our shared server and copy his database down each night (unattended) and then run some tasks on new data to update his accounting system - transfer new customer profile info etc into his accounting package. Anyway. . which version of SQLServer should I tell him to download? A free version would obviously be best. There's going to be almost no traffic on it - simply this one job each night which can take all night for all we care but it has to do the job unattended. Backup the existing database, run a SSIS job to download the remote database, then disconnect. Will the express version do that? Because we're on a shared host at HostMySite, we can't have the remote server do it - we don't have admin access to that machine, so we have to initiate the job from our local machine. Anyone know what I should get?
