ive quietly moved the status to "beta" recently, seeing that SA is pretty useable for a lot of people, and i wouldnt want the previous "alpha" tag to scare people off.
at the moment, im hoping that all the 0.2 changes are stabilizing and that the large majority of use cases can proceed smoothly with no surprises. however, there are a good number of new features that are pretty important, including some things that are part of 0.2 but have not been completed. ive been grouping these things under a milestone called "0.3.0". you can view it here: http://www.sqlalchemy.org/ trac/roadmap as far as dates, cant say much about that. the roadmap for 0.3.0 is likely two to four months away.
